Up at Whittlesey, just outside Peterborough, there sits an hotel called the Dog in a Doublet. Alongside the hotel runs the diverted River Nene and to the West of the sluice gate that controls its flow is a long straight stretch of open water where some lovely people meet regularly to swim.
