Licence Terms

Sendiri software is made available as a free download and may be downloaded again at any point. Sendiri believes very strongly in allowing people to try out its software before purchasing it, so time-limited 'Demo' licences are made available via the store.

Sendiri intends to make its products available under different types of licences to accommodate the needs of different users, but at this time 'Individual' licensing is the only option.

Individual Licence

A software product is licensed to a specific individual for installation on up to four machines owned/managed by that individual. Simultaneous use on all four machines is permitted under a single 'Individual' licence, but if the software is required on more machines, then the appropriate number of additional 'Individual' licences must be purchased.

In the event of a machine failure, or the software no longer being required at all on a particular machine, then the individual may migrate the software to another such machine within the terms of the existing licence.

Licence Management

Software licences are created and held on the Sendiri Store website, from which they may be downloaded and installed on machines along with the software itself. A single 'Licences' file collects all of the licences held by a registered user, so it is not necessary to download separate files if you have multiple products.

The easiest way to install the Licences file is to download and run the product, at which point it will notify you that it is unlicensed. Simply drag the Licences file into the licence window and the software will then ask for confirmation that you wish to install the licences as 'Choices:Sendiri.Licences' in your boot sequence.

The Licences file is machine-readable and designed to survive minor corruptions, wrapping issues and the changes in line termination that may inadvertently occur as a field is moved among different computer platforms, however it should not be hand-edited because this is likely to corrupt it. A textual description of the contained licences is included at the top of the file itself for your convenience, but this is ignored by the licensing software.

Full Licences

Having installed the Licences file, the licence management will remain transparent in the case of a 'Full' licence, and the Licence window will no longer appear when the software starts up. The window remains accessible via the user interface of the program, should it be necessary to view licensing details or to install an updated Licences file at a later date.

A Full software licence remains valid in perpetuity and both the software itself and the Licences file may be downloaded again at any point in the future. A Full licence also entitles the owner to any future revisions of the same product which are released to correct issues and/or offer minor improvements. You may download such revisions and try them experimentally alongside your existing software to ensure that the update works before switching over. You may also retain the older versions of the product should you wish, although they will also remain among your Downloads on the Sendiri Store website and may still be retrieved.

Demo Licences

Each registered user on the Sendiri Store is entitled to download and try a software product under a single time-limited 'Demonstration' licence for that product. A Demo licence will allow you to try out the full software product for a limited duration before committing to purchasing it.

Each time the software is loaded under a Demo licence it will display the Licence information window, showing the expiration date of the Demo licence and the time remaining. When the trial period expires, the software will remain usable in a very restricted form with disabled functionality, awaiting the installation of a new Licences file that contains a full licence. This may be purchased at the Sendiri Store.

During the trial period of a Demo licence, the software will require the Licences file to be installed as 'Choices:Sendiri.Licences' and to remain accessible and writeable. Please note that it must also be accessible via '.Sendiri' in accordance with RISC OS conventions, whereas in the case of a Full licence, the full flexibility of the 'Choices:' path variable may be exploited on a networked setup to make it accessible to multiple licensed machines. Since a Full licence is valid indefinitely, it never needs to be updated.

Temporary usage

In the event of a failure to locate and access a valid Licences file, or following the expiration of a time-limited Demo licence, most software products will still offer some limited functionality in response to being manually re-enabled. The software will then be usable for a few minutes, to allow you to address the problem.
